Food. It has always been a big part of my life. My mom used to joke that she would live to eat and that my dad ate to live. I am very much my mother’s child when it comes to food. I love to cook, bake, and eat. I have also found a lot of comfort in food based content. Here are some of my favorite channels, and two honorable mentions!

- Inga Lam – I had to start the list with Inga. Her cozy channel always makes me feel better. She is funny and her videos are fun. She is one of my favorite Youtubers. She has also collaborated with some other creators that I enjoy who I didn’t get to mention here.

2. Made With Lau – I came to this channel through viewing a different video and I am so glad I did. This is a channel that spans generations. A father/son team come together to help teach us how to cook. I love learning how to make food from different cultures and this is a great way to learn!

3. Ancient Recipes with Sohla – As a person with a degree in history, I love learning how things were actually made in the past. Cue the AMAZING Sohla and the History Youtube channel. Honestly this is a match made in heaven. A series of challenges for a talented chief to make food how it was originally cooked in times past.

4. Watcher Entertainment – Watcher is an amalgamation of all kinds of content. They do have three shows that are food based, and each are very different in tone. The first is called Dish Granted where Steven cooks in his chaotic fashion to create a dream dish for his friends. Food Files is a spinoff where Shane and Ryan hit food stops on their Ghost Files tour as per recommendations of their fans. The newest addition is Travel Season where Andrew, Steven and Adam travel to a different country to try different foods. This channel has something for everyone.

5. Delicious Day – Is one of the most comforting of cooking channels. Just learning a different country’s dishes with no distractions or talking. Just gorgeous shots of food with subtitled instructions and plenty of AMSR.

6. The Victorian Way – The English Heritage channel is run from a charity which takes care of historical sites in England. This section of the channel is all about a reenactor taking the recipes of a real life cook in a manor house and making them in character.

7. PBS Food – I was a PBS kid growing up and am thrilled about how much food content they have now. This channel is dedicated to all things food from around the world. One of my favorite shows is Pan Pals where two people exchange recipes to share cultures, hosted by Beryl Shereshewsky who has a great channel of her own.

8. Rie McClenny – McClenny is a cook with years of experience. She has been teaching viewers for years through different channels, including Tasty on Buzzfeed. She is generous and kind with her knowledge of food. She is also just a lot of fun to watch!

9. Babish Culinary Universe – This started off as a channel about making food from popular television shows. Since then it has evolved into a space for other hosts. New food. New views. New challenges.

10. NYT Cooking – The New York Times channel dedicated to all things culinary. There are lots of different options for viewers. My favorite is a challenge series with our friend Sohla and her husband. They will choose an ingredient and make a multi course meal with it. A great way to introduce people to the versatility of ingredients.

Here are two honorable mentions. These channels may not be active but they still have a lot of great content to consume.
About to Eat – Started by friends who met in a different company. They would challenge each other to make a dish with a certain ingredient. They would showcase their own projects. It’s a great channel that showcased food, how to make it, how cooks prepared it and how friends enjoyed it through the pandemic.
MyHarto – Hannah Hart is a huge part of Youtube history. I loved watching her cook while drunk. She started off making a video to make a friend laugh and it evolved into something so much bigger. Her channel has always been a space for mental health, kindness, positive change and honesty. It has been such a privilege to watch her grow and learn.
Editors Note: Chritter would also recommend Sorted Food. A group of hilarious British friends who have been in the YouTube space for a long time, including 2 Chefs and 3 ‘normals’ teaching each other and the audience about techniques, recipes, and new foods. Highly recommend giving them a watch.
There we have it. A few of my favorite channels with great food content. Did I miss yours? Please let me know below. Enjoy, friends.
ALWAYS KEEP SPARKLING!!!
