There are many beliefs throughout the world about why people become ghosts. A frequent reason is a need for revenge–a wrong done to them that needs to be solved in order for them to move on. The trick is to figure out what it is, and then how to help spirits move on. Sometimes it takes failed attempts to learn. Those attempts might even be fatal. I think that is why we are drawn to these stories.

The Ghost Station is a move that was released in 2022. “A horror story from Korea” was really all I needed to know to click on it. Recently, KinkedNitemare and I decided to watch the film. As fans of Korean horror we were pretty excited!

Strange incidents are happening at a local public transit station. A worker sees something he cannot explain, so he enlists the help of his friends, one of whom is a reporter who tries to use her skills and connections to get answers. However, the incident leads to a much bigger and scarier story. People are dying and they might be the only ones who can stop it. Can they un-bury the truth in time, or will they be the next to die mysterious deaths?

I enjoyed this film. I have made it known in the past that Korean horror has a special place in my heart, as I find it very frightening. Gotta get that horror high. Also, I have a harder time “calling” plot points which makes viewing more fun for me.

The practical effects made the film feel real as a viewer. I also really have to give it up for the costuming department. They did a great job of showing social standing and where characters were with their costumes. Our main characters did not dress like they had a lot of money, which, again, helped keep the story grounded. The script was juggling a lot of stories and did it well. This kept me engaged as a viewer, wondering what would happen to each character. The Ghost Station did surprise me with some of the twists, which was great for a person who watches a lot of horror! I did get a little confused as to where we were in timelines sometimes, but I think I just needed to pay more attention so I will give the story the benefit of the doubt.

I recommend The Ghost Station. I think it was an engaging and fun story. It is a film that horror fans will enjoy, particularly if you like a good ghost story. I do recommend checking the trigger warnings before watching it though.
