Monster Highway – Indie Spotlight

MH2
After a nuclear meltdown at a power plant, the lake next to it was quickly saturated with radioactivity. An alligator in the lake transforms into a road smashing, car crushing Monster! Your goal: be the first to build your roadway and drive your car from ground zero to your home while avoiding the monster AND of your opponents. No one is safe on Monster Highway!

Overview
Monster Highway is a 2-4 player game for ages 8+ and takes approximately 30 min to play.  Players need to create a roadway out of road tiles that leads from the center of the board “ground zero” to the players home base. The players car moves along the road built and once the car makes it to home base, that player wins the game.

If monster comes up, draw a monster card and see what space the “monster” lands on.

From the creators
From Bob and Ryan (One Day West Games) – Our inspiration for creating Monster Highway stems from our love of playing board games and our background of design.  For our profession, my brother and I are Landscape Contractors.  We have been designing and installing landscapes for many years.  Two years ago we decided we wanted to design our own game.  Typically we play games that are easy to learn but have enough mechanics to keep gamers of all levels interested.  They usually have a nice blend of strategy and chance.  Designing a game allowed us to incorporate everything we enjoy in games.   Living minutes from a nuclear power plant also helped drive the storyline!  It was a real pleasure designing Monster Highway!

Where to find it
Monster Highway launched on Kickstarter on 1/15/18. With 16 days left, they’re already halfway to their goal. Good luck, guys!

I am a Mom, Wife, Mental Health Advocate, Gamer, and Variety Streamer. I hate talking about myself but that is what this is here for so, let’s chat. I started Real Women of Gaming as a Facebook page and watched it grow over the years. Every year I am more proud of the work we do and the people I am surrounded by. These are amazing people that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
