Gaming Review 3/2/14

Co OpGaming is in a constant state of flux and change. One of the things that I hold dear is the fact that I can ride this wave of change and be introduced to new and interesting ideas. I get to see the upgrades, I experience the enhanced graphics, unbelievable story lines, voice acting, choose my own adventure artform that is a different rollercoaster for each player. Its like having a front row seat to play the main character in all the books you’ve ever read.

Actually that is exactly what it is.

However, I get to pull out my N64 and race my podracer; I can be a Dragoon on my SNES again; a Plumber on my NES; relive my adventures as Cloud on my Playstation. I can do all of that and none of it is abnormal for me (well, adjusting my eyes to the graphics takes a moment). I can replay a game just like I can read a book again, as if greeting an old friend.

To game you don’t have to have a starting point. You don’t have to start playing Monopoly to understand playing Lords of Waterdeep. You don’t have to play Dungeons and Dragons to play Cyberpunk or Deadlands. You don’t have to start at the 1st edition to play the 4th edition. You don’t have to play Legend of the Five Rings from the beginning to pick a Clan and join the fight. Hell, you don’t have to play the very first release of Munchkin to understand any of the 50 million additions of the game.

There is no starting point, no “start here.” no “go.” You find what you like and you jump in. You make friends as you go, share what you love, geek out. Learn lore, kill some aliens, fight the good fight. Live a million lives, be a part of a million stories, embrace things you never thought possible.

I love that I can chat with men and women, children and grandparents, people from other countries and walks of life, sexuality, religion, race, gender. None of those things (should) matter. My gamer friends are geeks, jocks, models, musicians, managers, students, corporate gears and retail hell survivors. They are all so different it’s amazing that we share this love that brings us together.

So lets review some togetherness.

Review 2/19/14 ~CP~

FF13BiggerSo how do I decide what I’m going to review? Well, I pick games that interest me. I know that is a horrible standpoint for someone to review games but its the truth. I should jump on any game that scurries by and give it a chance, which I would love to do. However, most of the time, I find myself staring at the screen whilst inner dialogue is something a lot like two children arguing about why we should, or shouldn’t play said game. I will try anything once, and I am more than happy to demo any game people say I should look into, but I find it hard to force myself to play a game because that is the current awesome game that everyone else is playing. Honestly I could care less what everyone else is playing. I game so that I can have fun or that WE can have fun, we being the group of people I am currently with. Isn’t that why you game? Why would you sit down with Ghost Recon if you despise first person shooters? Why would you pop in some Final Fantasy if you hate RPGs? Why would you go become a  Zoo Tycoon if you hate animals? *By the way, if you’re reading this and hate animals I’m sending the flying monkeys to beat some sense into you, seriously! What insane person hates animals?!*

My point is that, unless someone says hey give this a try, we usually go around doing stuff that we are fairly certain we will like. The point of the rant is this. I am open to playing anything, if you want me to play it, however, you HAVE to let me know, otherwise I will stay in my happy little bubble of games that I think suit me.

Now that you are all confused, shall we begin this week’s review?

Gaming Review 1/22

So lets get started with the Video Game portion, shall we?

Now, before you start asking a few obvious questions, let me throw some answers at you.

I do only (currently) own: Xbox 360, Computer, Nintendo, SNES, N64, Sega, Playstation 1 & 2, Smart Phone, PSP and Game Boy Advanced. Whenever we get some rich benefactor that will gladly pay for me to have all of the systems and play games to my heart’s content, this is what I work with. However, I am always interested in what other people think as well as different systems. I am hoping we can continue to expand our Admin base and give you wonderful reviews on all of the games you want to hear about, but for now you will just have to stick with what we have to work with.

Also I will be working on reviews from Demos that I play. Why, you ask? Same reason, as much as I wish I had all the money to buy all the games, it just doesn’t work like that. So I will review demos, full games, new games, old games, whatever strikes my fancy. I am more than happy to do a requested review if I have access to the game.

Now with that said lets get with the reviews:
