Looking for a bloody time? This will do it for ya.

I went to see Iron Lung. To those who have seen me play games and stream, most would realize indie games and horror are just my thing. That being said, I have not played Iron Lung, the game, yet. I am not a Markiplier fan; that is, I haven’t really watched much of his content. In fact, the only other thing I have seen of his is the t.v. series The Edge of Sleep. I have, however, played many indie horror games and games like Iron Lung, and I can say this movie was done very well.

Iron Lung combines so many things I find anxiety-inducing–in particular, ocean and space. Now, make the ocean an ocean of blood, and you have Iron Lung: a very bloody, claustrophobic, and religious (as in those left alive are faithful to something) horror movie with a minimal cast to make you feel the extreme isolation that being on a submarine alone would make anyone feel eventually.

This movie was impressively filmed, given its mere $3 million budget. Camera angles, use of negative space, and creative close-ups draw the viewer into the world of Iron Lung and make you feel Simon’s panic and isolation as the main character, played by Markiplier himself.

Overall, if you are looking for a good, atmospheric horror movie, this is a great one to go see and support. Check the website for updates on where it is still playing in theaters and, hopefully, information about physical copies and where to get them.

Digital release on YouTube is live, and you can buy or rent Iron Lung right now!
