Crymson Pleasure is the founder of Real Women of Gaming. Turning a hobby into a passion and trying to help our as many people along the way.
So where does your Gamertag/Alias come from?
LOL Everyone is terrified to ask me this! I did some online roleplaying in text chat (I’m so old) and I created an original character named Crymson Pleasure. She was a crazy/Malkavian with red and black hair with a tendency for shenanigans and violence. I became an internet DJ for awhile and used the name. After that it became my gamer tag, and has been ever since.
What was the first game you were passionate about?
The first game I ever played was probably Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, but Final Fantasy was my first love.
What was your first console?
Nintendo Entertainment System. I still miss some of those games.
What is/are the game(s) that got you into gaming?
The Final Fantasy series, definitely. There is something so majestic about those games. Another beautiful world full of awesome. Magic: The Gathering (Card), Dungeons & Dragons (TTRPG) and Betrayal at House on the Hill (Board).
When & Why did you fall in love with gaming?
My Grandmother worked at Kiddie City when I was a kid and bought us a Nintendo when it first came out. I adored it and would sit there all day playing if I could. I wasn’t a big reader at the time so video games where my only escape.
If you had a superpower, which would it be?
Healing. I want to say teleportation, invisibility or something flashy with fire, but at the end of the day I hate to see people hurting and I want to heal them.
What is an interest of yours outside of gaming?
I love a lot of things but horror is the first thing to come to mind. I’m trying to make my entire house red and black, so that can be a hobby. I’m also Pagan with a huge love for ancient Egypt. OH! Young adult novels. I’m trying to read all of Rick Riordan’s series but love suggestions.
What is something you love that not everyone knows?
Myself, that was the hardest thing to love. Outside of that, Tinker Bell, The Princess Diaries, Mew. I’m pretty open so there isn’t much I won’t talk about.
What’s a video/tabletop game that you would recommend to people who don’t play video/tabletop games?
Tough question, it really depends on the person. I always recommend Betrayal at House on the Hill for board games. TTRPG-wise, Dungeons & Dragons is the most accessible, but I like to point out games like Deadlands, Vampire, and Fate.
For the TTRPG players among us, who is your favorite character that you’ve created, and why?
Recently it was a Paladin I was playing in an offline game run by Vinni the Troll. Rhea, daughter of a Goddess, protector of humanoid kind. She was also my first time using an accent.
You are stuck in a board game/video game/ttrpg. Which is it and why?
Board Game: Betrayal at House on the Hill (I’d never survive)
TTRPG: Any but probably Deadlands (I’d be the first five mins of a Supernatural episode)
Video: I just want to be one of those carefree NPCs in a Final Fantasy game living in an amazing city.
Who/What inspires you?
My husband. All of the people in Real Women of Gaming. Random internet people. I find inspiration easily. We all encounter hardships… it’s how we deal with them that amazes me. Several of us were bullied as kids, what did we do? Started a yearly charity event.
Be kind to yourself, take care of yourself, and I will see you next time. Kthxbi
